Kick off to 2009

We kicked off our 2009 with our friends Jay and Lisa in Salem where we had a great time with them at a local bar called 'Singleys'. We listened to the live band, and enjoyed plenty of drinks, as Amb and I looked on while Jay and Lisa displayed some of their fine moves out on the dance floor. Come the strike of mid-night marking the entrance to '09 Amber and I shared a tender kiss and wished this New Years to be the first of an infinite number for us together. After a couple hours at Singleys we decided to make our way out to the other local bars, but to our surprise everything was closed and it was only 12:30am. So against everything we stand for we headed to 'Six Ultra Lounge'. If you have ever wondered where the failed Abercrombie models, unsuccessful UFC fighters, and wanna be gangsters hang out on a Saturday evening head on down to the local Salem hall of douche bags 'Six Ultra Lounge'. After we had our fill of derelicts, we went outside to walk into a wall of Salem Police Officers who were making a drug bust on the patrons of the fine establishment. In hopes to get home safely we called a taxi and stood on the curb for two hours awaiting its arrival. Duri

ng that time we found ourselves staying occupied messing with Lisa who had decided she was going to 'nap' on the sidewalk, and Amb and I determining where we could urinate outside with out getting caught. After several frustrated phone calls to the taxi cab company our ride finally showed up, and we eagerly jumped in to ride home with the high school drop out who was operating the vehicle which would safely carry us home. After a long night out the four of us enjoyed some unhealthy snacks, and went off to our rooms to get started on our hangovers.

Finding Love on 24th Street

So as most of you know Amber and I were neighbors prior to falling in love and moving in together. But what you may not know is how it happened, so here's our story - or my side at least. :)

Amber and I lived merely two houses apart but it was months before we ever met. I would see her come and go from time to time and always think "Man she's gorgeous." I would work on my yard for hours on end hoping that she would walk or drive by just for that slight chance that I could wave to her or that we could finally say 'Hi', kind of stalkerish yes, but hey it worked! Haha!

So finally one day I was out front doing yard work (aka stalking) when she and her friend walked by and after all the countless hours I had spent performing yard work out front just for this chance encounter I choked and didn't say a word. I froze. I merely stood there while they passed on by. I was so pissed at myself "Man what an idiot! I just stood there, and didn't say a peep." However, when they were walking by I overheard them talking about going to Baskin Robbins to get ice cream. So hoping for another chance to hopefully not act like a moron and redeem myself I thought "Alright I'll just putter out front for a bit and strike up conversation when they walk back by to go home! Perfect!" Baskin Robbins being right up the street I figured "Ah they should be back by in 20 or 30 mins." (Little did I know that they were going for the longest walk known to man afterward.)

For the first couple hours I pulled weeds, trimmed the bushes, fertilized the grass, watered the grass, you know the standard lawn stuff. But after the second hour passed I was simply out of stuff to do. Then I began second guessing myself "Did they already walk by and I was in the garage or something? Did they take a different route home?" Still hoping for the chance to redeem myself I continued to wait out front, by this time simply sitting on the front step with lawn equipment out front so it at least appeared I was out there for another reason then to drool over her. Bored, I let the dogs out front which they thought was great at first, but they too became bored and just laid down in my freshly fertilized lawn to nap. Just when I was about to give up here they came walking down the sidewalk. I quickly jumped up and pretended to be working out near the walkway. As they came closer the dogs too heard them and jumped up from their lazy day naps. When they got in front of the house Parker ran out to greet them and started trying to lick Amber and walk with her, and I after sitting out front with nothing to do for 3 hours I again simply stood there frozen with nothing to say. As Parker headed down the street with them all I could get out was "Sorry" and call back Parker. "Shit! I blew it again!"

Weeks passed until the faithful day when the Miracle Man, aka DHL Driver, arrived at my door. I was sitting on the couch watching a whitetail deer hunting show on Versus, when I got a knock at the door. I got up slightly annoyed as I anticipated another Jehova's Witness trying to get me to follow their path to God, or a Hispanic offering to my yard work (which my yard was impeccable seeing how much time I spent out front). When I opened the door I was surprised to see a DHL driver with a package for me, or so I thought it was for me. He handed me the box, had me sign his tablet and he headed back to his delivery van. I stood there in the doorway and read the name on the box "Amber Peyton 1780 24th St NE" from "Nordstrom". I quickly yelled to the driver "Hey this isn't mine, that house is a couple more down!" He promptly came back up, apologized for the mistake, and headed down the block. "Shit!" I thought to myself. "What an idiot! I could have taken the package to her house and finally met her!" Though frustrated that I hadn't thought of that earlier I now had vital information on the beautiful girl I had been dieing to meet... her name!

I rushed into the spare bedroom and fired up the computer. It felt like it took an eternity to boot up but when it finally did I went onto to the web to every stalkers dream... myspace! I quickly logged in and typed "Amber Peyton" in the search bar. Tada! The myspace page loaded and loan behold there she was! It was her! My only problem now was what do I do? I can't add her as a friend she'll think I'm crazy. How would I ever explain to her how I found her on myspace or who I was?

A few days went by and I would go back to her page over and over trying to get the nerve to add her as a friend. Finally I got up the nerve and just clicked "Add as Friend". Days went by til I finally received the notice that she accepted me as a friend. Again days passed with nothing said. Assuming she thought I was crazy Feb. 15 I finally wrote her:
"Hey I think we are neighbors...? (Green house with the red door) Sorry if my dogs bothered you the other day while you were walking. :) Have a great weekend. - Casey "

A week passed and she finally wrote back:
"Hey! nice to meet you, yes we are. And your dogs did not scare me, they looked pretty friendly, but thanks! - Amber"

For nearly 2 weeks we didn't say another word to each other, until one night after work I went to Fred Meyer to get something to eat for the night. While I was walking in Amber was walking out wearing a big coat with pajama pants and her hair pulled up. Nervous to say anything I looked away as I walked past her, seconds later I turned around and she was gone. "Dang it! I'm a retard!" Again I blew a chance to meet her. That night when I got home I had received an email from her on myspace stating that she had seen me at Fred Meyer as well and when she looked back to say "Hi" I was gone. The next day I wrote her back and we continued to write each other back and forth for the next couple days, all the time being two houses apart but neither of us brave enough to go talk to the other.

One day when I was pulling into the driveway from working out at the gym, I saw two girls coming from her house running down the street towards my house. Initially I thought they must be going for a run, then I noticed that one wasn't wearing any shoes and the other was in pajama pants. At the time I was on the phone with my dad who I promptly told "I gotta go there are two girls running toward me and they are from that hot girls house that lives down the street" and hung up. They introduced themselves as Amber's friends Stephanie and Stephanie then they two of them began badgering me with questions as to if I was single, and if I thought Amber was cute, and on and on. Then they said "Well she thinks your cute and you should really come down and say hi to her. Our door is always open so come down anytime." Then the ran back to their house.

Ecstatic and amazed at what had just happened I quickly called my dad back and told him the story, which he thought was great. Unsure of what to do, later that night I called Steve, and told him the story. Steve who is a great talker and can always can think of something to say was like, "What are you doing? Get over there! Pretend your baking some cookies and say you need a couple eggs." Steve continued on with great ideas of what to do and how to break the ice but I just couldn't get the nerve to go over there. Again days passed and we continued to email back and forth but still never met.

Finally the evening came where we would meet. The night of April 5, 2008 I checked myspace and was surprised to see an email from Amber saying that she and some friends were going to go out that night and if I was out and about that we should meet up and she left her phone number. I had plans to go hangout with Brad that night and really wasn't feeling like going out. I went over to Brads and hunt out with he and some friends and then went home. When I got home I still didn't really feel like going out as I was tired and simply didn't feel very confident that day. I moped around for a bit and decided what the heck, I'll go and gave called the number she listed in her message. An hour later I drove down to Copper Johns to meet her and her friends. I walked in and she looked amazing in a little red dress with white cherries on it and her hair done up. We hit off instantly and had a great time together. At the end of the night she and seven of her friends piled into my truck so I could give them a ride home. When we had dropped off a couple of her friends at their houses the rest of us headed to Denny's for some breakfast, by now it was 4am and I was supposed to be leaving for work in a couple hours. Needless to say I called the guys and told them that I wouldn't be making it in and spent the rest of the morning with the girls. After we finished up at Denny's we headed back to 24th street where we dropped off her friends and said our goodbyes, and agreed to go to dinner that night in Pacific City at the Pelican Brewery. And now the rest is history, from that day on we have been together everyday and I have been the happiest I have ever been. Amber is an amazing, caring, and beautiful person and I'm so thankful for having her in my life.
